While many downwind SUP shapes on the market are similarly designed, we decided to take a different approach with our Downwind S-TEC. We believe that extremely beveled or fully rounded bottom and rail shapes create significant instability. Therefore, we opted for a very flat underside where it matters most: directly in the standing area. Stability when starting is the main goal here. We use the advantages of curves and beveled rail and bottom shapes only where they are truly necessary. The front area of the nose is rounded to allow smooth and forgiving water contact, while the abruptly beveled pin tail can be slightly lowered to activate flight mode. Special attention was given to the shape of the rails by keeping the highest point of the radius as high as possible to further improve stability. The deck features a slight concave in the standing area that transitions into a slope towards the nose. This slope ensures that the power during paddling is efficiently converted into forward movement and prevents the front foot from sliding forward during the critical phase of the paddle stroke.
